The exoskeleton of a small bronze beetle gleams among the breadcrumbs on my kitchen bench.

(It was a grass grub beetle. It probably laid its eggs, so that the larvae could chew up the roots of my lawn, before it flew inside through the open back door and died there. If I don't think about that though, it was very beautiful.)

I love the scientist's commentary. I have the same running factoids. I see the beauty even in the destruction there is wonder.
I love these Catherine. Swan Lake is my fav.
what a lovely beetle to find, as you say, if you didn't think about it too much!
Have you received your copy of The Productive Writer yet? Sage sent them in batches i think, as she was sending out a lot. Pretty sure she used airmail.
