This week's topic at one deep breath is to write haiku about the city. The topic was posted while I was at work today (I took a sneak peek on the work computer) so my brain was able to start churning while I drove home in busy rush hour traffic.
at the traffic lights smoke rises into the sky from car exhaust pipes
in the sliver of sky between car yards a Russian dome
cubist reflections make windows of sunlight on concrete walls
She tried hard to be like the others/she struggled to catch a ball/she never quite managed a cartwheel/after much practice she stood on her head./When she grew up she turned to science/she thought she would turn the world upside down/after a while she realised that the world had stayed in its proper place all along/and she was still standing on her head.
