Blue Box

Carmi is exploring blue at his blog this week. I had a bunch of photos picked out, but when I passed this portable toilet on my way to an appointment today, I knew I had to get a photo, so I stopped on the way home.

Doctor Who was nowhere to be seen - off saving the world, no doubt.

There are still 10,000 homes in areas of Christchurch where the sewage is not working properly. So we will expect to have these in the streets for a while yet. At least when you're out, you're never likely to be caught short!

Great post! This is the spirit we witness in Christchurch that makes the rest of us proud to be kiwis. I was really moved the other day to hear 'new' NZers becoming citizens, telling how the spirit of the people pulling together in the disaster reinforced their desire to live in Christchurch.

The chance to photograph something like this doesn't happen often. You were right to go back for it. I hope that it's not too long before Christchurch has no need for it.

Very cool post, Catherine. As a born-in-Christchurch North Islander, I am in awe of the way people can still laught. In my frequent phone conversations with my sister, who lives in New Brighton, she shares just as many funny stories as sad ones.
Kia kaha!

and we still have some of the original police boxes in Edinburgh, though most of them are now used for other purposes, coffee stalls or miniature art galleries. Hope your sewage system gets sorted soon!
