There are the pesticides that someone who owned your home before you could have used on the soil, the spillover from neighbors' yards, and the pesticides from the lawn -- if you have one and use pesticides on it -- that can get into the food. I used to live next to a really busy street, and I always worried that the food we grew would be fairly contaminated by pollution from the road.
